MS Lifecam studio captures 30 frames per second and allows video calling for up to 720p with a wide-angle lens. True tone technology with face tracking automatically controls exposure for videos.

If we look at the specifications and details Microsoft LifeCam studio is miles ahead in terms of resolution and has better quality. Whereas the LifeCam HD-3000 is a lower end model yet more affordable.
If you want to buy the webcam just for video calling with your friends and family, LifeCam HD-3000 is a better option. Although for professional use LifeCam studio is the obvious option.
