If you look at both these tablets from the front, you won’t notice any difference as far as design is concerned. The Tab S5e is, however, a little lighter than the Tab S6. The back of both these devices is made out of Aluminum, which feels premium; however, the design feels a bit different because the Tab S6 has a dual-camera setup, and the Tab S5e only has one camera.

Moreover, there’s a magnetic spot for the S-pen on the Tab S6, while the Tab S5e has a plain back. Sides look the same well, except in Tab S5e, you get a fingerprint scanner on the power button, so there’s no bump to it. Contrary to that, you get an optical fingerprint sensor on the screen of the Tab S6, which works just as good. However, you have to turn on the device every time you want to unlock it. Overall, both tablets look and feel premium design-wise.

The magical Super AMOLED display has become the trademark of Samsung, and you can’t expect them to be using any other technology in the near future as well. The Super AMOLED display is widely known for its accurate color depiction, and many people prefer buying Samsung devices for this sole reason.

Both the tablets are almost identical when it comes to display. You get a 10.5-inch screen, and the dimensions are also the same because of identical bezels. The Tab S5e, however, shows a little whiter color-tone when used at full brightness, and the Tab S6 is more towards the yellowish side. Overall, you can’t go wrong with either one display-wise, and this factor matters the least.

There are so many apps that are solely dependent on the camera of your device, and with internet speeds going up each day, the online world has turned into a more visual thing. So, regardless of what device you’re using, a good camera is a must. Also, the competition in camera quality has been on the rise, and just for that reason, the dual and even triple-camera setup has become the new norm.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the first Samsung Tablet to have come with the dual-camera setup at the back. The Tab S5e, however, only has one 13MP camera that can take great pictures. However, you don’t have the option to take ultra-wide pictures as the Tab S6 has. The selfie-camera on both the tablets is identical as well; however, if you analyze the selfies taken by both devices, there’s a small difference in the quality, and the Tab S6 seems to more accurate.

There isn’t much to compare when it comes to speakers, as both the devices have quad-speakers. Two of them are located at the top of the device, while two are at the bottom. The quad-speakers produce a very crisp sound, while running simultaneously.

The core difference between these two tablets that’s worth mentioning comes in the hardware. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is a mid-ranged device, and because of that, it comes loaded with a mediocre Snapdragon 670 processor. This processor can handle day to day tasks with ease, however, if you compare it with the top-notch processor of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6’s Snapdragon 855, it loses the battle by a big margin.

For all the hardcore users out there, the Tab S6 is the go-to option because it can handle intense usage with ease, however, for people looking to buy an average device, the Tab S5e isn’t a bad option as well.

Furthermore, the base model of the Tab S6 comes pre-loaded with 6GB of Ram, and 128GB of storage which is optimal as far as modern standards are concerned. On the other hand, the Tab S5e comes with 4GB Ram in the base model and offers 64GB of storage.

Moreover, there’s a massive difference in the GPU performance of both the tablets, and the benchmark scores are almost four times higher in the Tab S6 as compared to its predecessor. There’s no doubt that the Tab S6 out-performs the Tab S5e in every aspect, however, if you consider the features in terms of price, then surely the difference seems fair.

SOFTWARE & BATTERY LIFE

Both the tablets are almost identical in the software section, and you can expect update support as well. However, the Galaxy Tab S5e doesn’t support the S-pen which is a bummer but it makes sense also because costs can’t be cut down without sacrificing on some features. Overall, the Galaxy Tab S6 is the winner here because it includes more options for people who love drawing on their tablet, and also for gaming lovers, there’s nothing lacking in this device.

More juice means more fun – Samsung has improved its devices over the years in terms of battery life, and the tablets are no exception. The Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Tab S5e, both come loaded with a 7040-mAh battery which is step down from the previous model, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. Despite being at the same level, the Tab S5e gives at least 15 hours of talk-time because it has a weaker processor to deal with. On the other hand, the Tab S6 only survives for 11 hours because of its beast-like Snapdragon 855 processor, which takes more juice to run.

VERDICT

There’s no doubt that the more a device costs, the more goodness it has to offer. However, even with sheer-performance in hand, pricey stuff isn’t everyone’s’ piece of cake. This comparison of Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is the perfect example of that. Having said that, it all comes down to your personal preference and the type of usage you’re looking to have from the device. We have, however, provided a thorough difference between the two devices to analyze the situation better, so that you can make a wise decision.
